Do you stage plays or ballets involving the use of music? SUISA can only license the rights in non-theatrical music (small rights). This is the case when music plays a secondary or accompanying role ("musical setting") because it is used as an interlude or a setting.

Grand rights for musicals and similar shows

Does your event meet the following criteria?

  • The performers play set roles.
  • The scenic plot is so reliant on music that the theatrical work cannot generally be performed or staged without it.

In this case, the rights involved are known as grand rights and must be obtained directly from the publisher or the author. SUISA can provide the contact particulars of the persons responsible.
