Musica International, with its Musicanet website, is a database containing information on over 150'000 works of the international chorale repertoire. The database comprises the ongoing contributions of the association’s member countries, as well as the contributions of chorale associations, information institutions, universities, libraries and publishers. The SUISA Foundation for Music has represented Switzerland in Musica International since 1998, ensuring our country an official presence within this association.

Each score is described in a file containing 80 different data items (composer, harmoniser, title, publisher, genre, form, difficulty, type of chorale, language, era, instrumentation, etc.). About twenty fields in these files are automatically translated by multilanguage dictionaries (French, German, English, Spanish) elaborated by Musica International’s staff. The database is in the process of evolving into a multimedia library. Users can already obtain search results accompanied by a partial display of the score and an audio extract. Musica International is regularly consulted by choir directors, publishers and programme developers.

The SUISA Foundation for Music offers Swiss publishers of chorale works the possibility of placing their catalogues on this database. To do this, publishers should send a copy of each score they want to include in the database to the address below. Do not send more than 20 scores at a time and wait until the information is published on the Musica International website before sending the next series of scores. The SUISA Foundation for Music processes the data entries and transmits them regularly to Musica International for public access.
