Prize ceremony for Trummer

The winner: Christoph Trummer

An approriate setting - the Kirchplatz in Wintherthur was bursting at the seams on the night of 25 August 2011, when Trummer showed his audience why he is the winner of this year's Prize of the SUISA Foundation for Music.

In honour of the occasion Trummer had invited a couple of good friends: Shirley Grimes, Adrian Weyermann, Valeksa Steiner and Sonja Glass (Boy) were sharting the stage with him and his band. A concert evening full of singer/songwriters - could there have been any better setting for the prize ceremony of this year's Prize of the SUISA Foundation for Music in the genre singer/songwriter? Trummer received the Prize carrying a value of 20'000 francs at the beginning of the concert from the Foundation's director Urs Schnell under the applause of the audience of the 36th Winterthurer Musikfestwochen.

We say thank you for the great support of the festival and sincerely congratulate the winner.

TRUMMER is the winner

The SUISA-Foundation for music awards Christoph Trummer its Prize of 20'000 francs for his achievements in the genre singer/songwriter. The Bernese musician has convinced the jury of five professionals over more than 70 co-candidates. Congratulations!

«(trsl.) It is not exaggerated to say that Trummer is one of very few Swiss artists who cannot merely compose and write songs on such a high level but who also know how to play them live", says writer Pedro Lenz. Trummers lyrics are touching; maybe just because they neither want to teach nor impress their listeners, but often leave it with the simple question: do you know this too?

Already since the 1990ies Christoph Trummer has been on stage with his songs and has become a strong live-performer over the years. His 6th album «Fürne Königin» was releadsed in the early summer 2011. However, the 33-year old not only concentrates on his own music. Off the limelight he invests a lot of time and work in the networking of the Swiss singer/songwriter-community. In Berne he has e.g. established a series of open-mic-sessions in the Café Kairo, where he offers young musicians a well-visited platform monthly.

The prize ceremony took place on Thursday, 25 August 2011, during Trummers concert at the Winterthurer Musikfestwochen.
