SUISA ::

Joining SUISA

Are you a composer, a lyricist, or the legal successor of an author of musical works? To join SUISA, the procedure is the following:

  • Fill in the below form and click on «send».
  • We will then send you a payment slip for the one-time admission fee of CHF 100.- (including  7,6% VAT).
    This is a handling fee designed to cover our administrative costs. If you subsequently decide not to become a member, the fee will not be refunded.
  • Within two weeks of receiving your payment, we will send you a rights administration agreement (=membership agreement) in duplicate with other related documents.
  • Complete the forms, sign the agreements and send the documents back to us.
  • We will then sign the agreements and send you your copy. You are now an associate member! Provided you have been an associate member for at least one year, you can become an ordinary member, with full voting and election rights, as soon as you have received at least CHF 2000 in royalties.

NB

  • Even if you are not a member of SUISA, your works are still protected by copyright.
  • SUISA is not responsible for enforcing your copyrights. SUISA’s function is to collect the royalties for the public use of your works and pass them on to you.
  • You should join SUISA if your works are already used in public or if they will be so in the foreseeable future.  Only then can SUISA claim royalties on your behalf.
  • If you co-author a work with others, all your co-authors must also join SUISA as associate members. All the songwriters in a band have to join individually.
  • DJs can also become members if they write their own tracks, but not if they only play those of others.
  • The membership application documentation can be viewed online. ((Link)) Paper copies of the application documents will be sent on request. For additional information about SUISA, please see our FAQ pages.
